The Kruger National Park is 2.2 Million hectares and is the size of Switzerland. This spectacular reserve is South Africa’s premier big five game reserve and home to Leopard, Lion, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant. The Kruger Park was opened for visitor in 1926, but originally founded as the Sabie Game Reserve by President Paul Kruger.
The Kruger Park itself has 21 Rest Camps as well as 7 Private Lodge Concessions and 11 designated private safari Lodges. The concessions are parcels of land operated by private companies in partnerships with communities, who outsource the operation of private lodges.
The most famous of the 21 Rest Camps include Skukuza, Lower Sabie, Bergendal, Pretoruiskop, Satara, Oliphants, Pundu Maria and Crocodile Bridge. As a luxury tour operator we tend to recommend the private concessions over the Rest Camps as these give you a chance to experience private safaris in the company of trained guides, off road driving ( in some camps ) , night drives, bush walks ( in some camps ) . Concessions in the Kruger Park include : Singita Lebombo, Singita Sweni, Shishangeni, Camp Shonga, Hamiltons, Lukimbi, Tinga, Rhino Post Safari Lodge and Pafuri.
