Chobe National Park is located in the North west Corner of Botswana and is only a short hop skip and a jump from Victoria Falls ! That’s a 90 minutes road transfer through the most interesting and fascinating game reserve if you really need to know. Essentially Chobe is all about Elephants. Lots of them. And the jury seems to be out on exactly how many there are. We have always said there are approximately 55 000 elephant in Chobe National Park, but some sources seem to indicate this is as high as 120,000 . We suppose there is only one way to find out. Book a trip to Chobe for yourselves and start counting ! Needless to say there is no shortage of elephants and its a daily spectacle at the Chobe River as the elephants come down to the river to drink and bath.
Most first time visitors to Chobe visit the Kasane Area ( or the Chobe River Front ) , but the more adventurous and those with extended itineraries can visit the Linyati and Savuti Area. The Savuti in particular is noted for its Lions that are particularly well adapted to hunting Elephant, as well as its annual migration of Zebra. The Savuti Marsh was once a lush inland lake but techtonic movements cut the water supply. The Linyanti Marsh and the Kwando River are known for its large concentration of lions, leopards, wild dogs. All in all a fantastic destination, that we believe is well worth a visit. Combine it with Victoria Falls, Cape Town, Kruger Park, Okavango or even Namibia.
